Addiction Treatment
Recovery from substances and/or other addictive behaviors is possible. I help people overcome addictive behaviors throughout their recovery journey, whether they are just out of detox or have been sober for many years. I am qualified to help people who are experiencing problems with the following:
- Alcohol
- Illegal drugs
- Prescription drugs
- Pornography and/or other sexual behaviors
- Compulsive shopping
- Gambling
- Internet and/or video gaming
It is OK if you are at a place where you are not sure whether or not you want to stop your addictive behavior forever. I will work with you to help you create your own recovery goals.
Dysfunctional relationships and trauma often go hand-in-hand with addictions. In addition to addiction treatment, I can help you resolve, repair, and heal from relationships and events that may have triggered your addictive behavior or that may have become negatively impacted due to your behavior.

Addiction Treatment for Family/Friends
Having a family member, spouse, significant other, or close friend who is struggling with an addiction can be emotionally overwhelming. Counseling can help you sort out and resolve your feelings of anger, mistrust, and betrayal. Counseling can also help you decide where you will go next in your relationship with the person with the addiction.
My Philosophy on Addictions
I take a non-12-step approach to addiction treatment that is rooted in SMART Recovery, Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I do not adhere to the disease model of addiction; rather, I view addictions as habits and behaviors that a person can change. Although I hope you do not experience a relapse while in treatment, I understand relapses are a part of recovery for many people. If you experience a relapse, I want you to feel able to tell me so we can help you figure out what happened and move you forward in your recovery.
SMART Recovery at The Lotus Building in Bend, OR
SMART Recovery is a non-12-step approach to helping people overcome addictive behaviors. There is no higher power, there are no chips, and open discussion is encouraged. Meetings are held every Tuesday from 5:30pm-7pm in the 2nd floor conference room of The Lotus Building in Bend (same address as my office). No prior registration is required; this is an open group where members can attend for as long as the group is helpful to them. People involved in diversion programs are eligible and encouraged to participate. To find out more about SMART before the meeting, and for helpful recovery tools, check out www.smartrecovery.org.
